Delicious and Healthy Oat Bread Recipe

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for added nutrition)
  • 1 cup rolled oats (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar (or honey), salt, and yeast. Mix well.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture forms a sticky dough.

Step 2: Knead the Dough

  1. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
    • Tip: If the dough feels too sticky, sprinkle a little extra flour, one tablespoon at a time.
  2. Shape the dough into a ball.

Step 3: First Rise

  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp towel or plastic wrap.
  2. Let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Step 4: Shape the Dough

  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and shape it into a loaf.
  2. Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle extra oats on top and lightly press them into the dough.

Step 5: Second Rise

  1. Cover the loaf pan and let the dough rise for another 30–45 minutes, until it puffs up.

Step 6: Bake the Bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bake the bread for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

  1. Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
  2. Transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
