Beloved country musician Richard “Kinky” Friedman passed away in late June at his Texas home at age 79. Known for his satirical band Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys, Friedman gained fame in the 1970s with songs like “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore.”

Beyond music, Friedman ventured into politics, running for Texas governor in 2006 and seeking the Democratic nomination for agriculture commissioner twice. A prolific artist, he released 18 albums, including his 2018 final record, Circus of Life. Remembered for his humor and emotional depth, Friedman leaves behind a legacy cherished by fans and friends alike.
