Trump Touts ‘Very Strong’ Senate GOP Meeting On Legislative Plan
After a 100-minute meeting with Senate Republicans, President-elect Donald Trump praised a “very strong” discussion about his agenda. At the U.S. Capitol, Trump briefly addressed reporters near the late Jimmy Carter’s memorial, fielding questions on California wildfires, border security, and Liz Cheney. When asked about cooperating with Governor Gavin Newsom, Trump responded, “Oh sure,” and expressed willingness to provide federal aid. He criticized California’s water management, claiming water was diverted to protect the smelt fish, leaving areas like Los Angeles without sufficient water for fire hydrants. “It’s really unfortunate,” Trump said, adding, “We will accomplish that. Finally, it will be finished.”
