When asked about cooperating with Governor Gavin Newsom, Trump responded, “Oh sure,” and expressed willingness to provide federal aid. He criticized California’s water management, claiming water was diverted to protect the smelt fish, leaving areas like Los Angeles without sufficient water for fire hydrants. “It’s really unfortunate,” Trump said, adding, “We will accomplish that. Finally, it will be finished.”
