Air Fryer Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • For the meat sauce:
    • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or Italian sausage
    • 1 small onion, diced
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 2 cups marinara sauce
    • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the cheese mixture:
    • 1 cup ricotta cheese
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
    • 1 tsp parsley (optional)
  • For layering:
    • 6 lasagna sheets (no-boil, trimmed to fit the baking dish)
    • Additional 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the meat sauce:
    • In a skillet, cook the ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
    • Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, then set aside.
  2. Prepare the cheese mixture:
    • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella. Add parsley if desired.
  3. Assemble the lasagna:
    • Use a small baking dish (that fits into your air fryer basket) and lightly grease it.
    • Start with a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom. Add a layer of lasagna sheets, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture, and then meat sauce. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with meat sauce on top.
    • Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella on top.
  4. Cook in the air fryer:
    • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent the top from browning too quickly) and cook for 20 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve:
    • Let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
