  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 tsp taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or provolone for a traditional taste)

For Toppings:

  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp guacamole
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Toss the turnip or daikon fries with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  2. Cook the Cheesesteak Filling:
    • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened (about 5 minutes).
    • Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the shaved steak.
    • Sprinkle taco seasoning over the steak and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
    • Mix the steak and veggies together.
  3. Assemble the Fries:
    • Arrange the baked fries on a large serving platter or skillet.
    • Layer the cheesesteak filling evenly over the fries.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top and broil in the oven for 1–2 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
  4. Add Toppings:
    • Drizzle with sour cream and guacamole.
    • Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
