Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm almond milk (or any plant milk)
- ¼ cup (60g) vegan butter (melted)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Filling:
- ⅓ cup (70g) brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup (60g) vegan butter (softened)
For the Glaze (Optional):
- ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp plant milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a bowl, mix warm almond milk, melted vegan butter, and sugar. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and vanilla. Stir until it forms a dough.
- Knead for about 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Filling:
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle (~¼ inch thick).
- Spread softened vegan butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
3. Shape the Rolls:
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log.
- Cut into 12 equal rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let them rise for 30–45 minutes.
4. Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
5. Make the Glaze (Optional):
- Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and plant milk until smooth.
- Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
