Keto Halibut with Lemon Butter Sauce

Ingredients

For the  Halibut:

  • 4 Halibut fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For the Lemon Butter Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon capers for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Halibut:
    • Pat the halibut fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the Halibut:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, add the halibut fillets and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, depending on the thickness. The fish should be golden brown and opaque in the center. Remove the fillets from the skillet and set them aside.
  3. Make the Lemon Butter Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter.
    • Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and capers (if using). Cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve:
    • Plate the halibut fillets and drizzle the lemon butter sauce over the top.
    • Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh touch.

Tips

  • Pair this dish with steamed asparagus or a mixed green salad for a complete meal.
  • Adjust the amount of lemon juice based on your taste preference.
