Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish or casserole dish.
  2. Cook the Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Potatoes
In the same skillet, heat the olive oil or butter. Add the cubed potatoes and sauté for 5-7 minutes until lightly golden. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, potatoes, onion, bell pepper, garlic, and any additional veggies (like broccoli or corn). Stir to mix.
  5. Prepare the Custard
In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, eggs, thyme, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Assemble the Casserole
Pour half of the sausage and potato mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup of cheese. Add the remaining mixture on top and pour the custard evenly over it. Top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Cool and Serve
Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives if desired.
