Vegan Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup (180ml) warm almond milk (or any plant milk)
  • ¼ cup (60g) vegan butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Filling:

  • ⅓ cup (70g) brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup (60g) vegan butter (softened)

For the Glaze (Optional):

  • ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp plant milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix warm almond milk, melted vegan butter, and sugar. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and vanilla. Stir until it forms a dough.
  3. Knead for about 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Make the Filling:

  1. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (~¼ inch thick).
  3. Spread softened vegan butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

3. Shape the Rolls:

  1. Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log.
  2. Cut into 12 equal rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  3. Cover and let them rise for 30–45 minutes.

4. Bake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Make the Glaze (Optional):

  1. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and plant milk until smooth.
  2. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
